This eliminates the need for buyers to pay VAT when goods are imported into the EU, which was previously required for goods valued at over EUR 22.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"46\" data-end=\"253\">Launched to simplify <strong data-start=\"154\" data-end=\"172\">VAT compliance<\/strong> for businesses involved in <strong data-start=\"200\" data-end=\"236\">distance sales of imported goods<\/strong> to EU consumers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"255\" data-end=\"562\">Through the IOSS, sellers and online marketplaces can <strong data-start=\"309\" data-end=\"342\">collect, declare, and pay VAT<\/strong> for goods imported into the EU\u2014directly to the relevant tax authorities\u2014<strong data-start=\"415\" data-end=\"439\">at the point of sale<\/strong>.
